The statistics group at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Bergen consists of 5 permanent faculty members for the time being. In addition, one postdoctoral researcher and several PhD students are members of the group. One of the long-term strategic orientations of science faculty and of the group is medical statistics, which led to the creation of the postdoctoral position. The group has long tradition in collaborating with researchers from other fields, and has formed a Statistical Consulting Unit for meeting their demands. Jan Bulla is co-leader of this unit. He has been publishing in renowned statistical journals such as Annals of Applied Statistics or JABES, but also in various medical journals such as Genetics in Medicine, Sleep, or The Journals of Gerontology - Series A Biological Sciences and Medical Sciences, including several works linked to tinnitus. Furthermore, he recently contributed to gender-related research on the effects of propofol sedation (European Journal of Anaesthesiology). Geir Drage Berentsen is postdoc in medical statistics, and both Ingvild Margrethe Helgøy and Sondre Hølleland are PhD students in statistics. Małgorzata Wrzosek joined the team as external member in 2021 and contributes to the project with her expertise in statistics and cognitive science. The team is going to contribute to this project with their expertise in data management, data visualization, and statistical analysis.
